hello everyone,

glad to hear about everyone who WASN’T harmed in the bridge collapse yesterday in minneapolis.  very glad.  but does anyone have news on anyone who WAS hurt?  those people aren’t likely to send out their own posts, and besides, not everyone is on lj.  please?  thanks!

  1. No names have been released yet, but the count so far is 4 fatalities and 30 missing…Recovery crews were just told to halt until bridge inspectors can look over the wreckage and figure out safety measures for the rest of the operation…

    I can’t speak for everyone but there were plenty of folks around in shock last night…

Well, news has been constantly changing since I sent you that update: 5 fatalities and only 8 missing; they’ve released most of their names and there’s been plenty of coverage of their lives…Recovery also continued last weekend, but currents have been rather strong in the river…Yeah, the footage IS pretty freaky, especially the surveillance video of the bridge actually collapsing – whoa…They opened up the 10th Ave and Stone Arch bridge finally so peeps can see the operation…Traffic so far isn’t that bad, but then again, I haven’t been travelling during peak hours…

        Most folks are over the shock by now…but that was quite a week there…This furthers my suspicion of American engineers…
